With a variety of allegations regarding tension amongst the pair on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, director Olivia Wilde is choosing to not say anything about her and Florence Pugh’s relationship.

During the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Wilde was asked about Pugh — who did virtually no press for the film, arriving and leaving shortly after the film’s premiere — but chose not to discuss any of the rumors of tension between the pair.
“Florence is a force,” said Wilde (via Variety). “We are so grateful she’s able to make it tonight [for the red carpet] despite being in production on Dune. I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her and to [Dune director Denis Villeneuve] for helping us. And we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight. I can’t say how honored I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing.”
Wilde went on to say that she would not be feeding into any “endless tabloid gossip” about the pair. “As for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, the Internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute; I think it’s sufficiently well-nourished,” said Wilde.

Rumors of the pair’s tension date back to an initial report from Page Six in July, which noted that Pugh was not happy with seeing Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles “all over each other on set,” mostly due to the fact that Wilde was still with actor Jason Sudeikis at the time. The pair would later end their marriage in November 2020. According to the report, Sudeikis and the pair’s two children would often visit the set of the film in its early production, a move that left people “uncomfortable” at the time.
