The Pinocchio release date is upon us.
This year’s Disney+ Day will be a special occasion as it will see the live-action remake of one of the most beloved Disney classics, Pinocchio. Here is when to watch it together will all the family.
When to Watch Pinocchio on Disney+
Disney set the Pinocchio release date on Disney+ starting at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Thursday, September 8. Robert Zemeckis directed the movie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Chris Weitz, based on the classic children’s tale by Italian author Carlo Collodi. Pinocchio is just one of the many exclusive contents that will debut on Disney+ Day, a list that includes the Thor: Love and Thunder streaming release, Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return, and more. The story follows a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a “real boy” before discovering how the world really is. It also centers on a father-son relationship, the ramifications of lying, and living in a fantasy world.

The film stars Tom Hanks as Geppetto, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the titular character, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, as well as Luke Evans as the villainous Coachman, and Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John. Additionally, Lorraine Bracco is Sofia the Seagull, a new character made just for the live-action film. The project is produced by Weitz and Andrew Miano via their Depth of Field production banner.

The original Pinocchio first debuted in theaters in 1940 and won two Academy Awards. While it wasn’t a box-office success, fans always loved the wooden boy story. In the Disney-animated film Pinocchio, Dickie Jones voiced the titular puppet. Additionally, Cliff Edwards was Jiminy Cricket and Christian Rubb was Master Geppetto.
