Production is officially underway for the upcoming sequel to last year’s Godzilla vs. Kong, and a new photograph suggests the film may have found its working title.

In a tweet that seems to show off a clapboard from the set of the film, the working title of Origins can be seen above director Adam Wingard’s name. While no spoilers or substantial information can really be gleaned from that, it does seem to hint toward the fact that the film will be exploring the potential origins of both Godzilla and Kong.

Its theatrical release date will pit the sequel against no direct competition. However, it will be released in the same month as two other high-profile projects in the form of A Quiet Place: Day One and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
The upcoming fifth installment to the blockbuster franchise is once again being directed by Adam Wingard. The Godzilla vs. Kong sequel will be led by Legion star Dan Stevens as he reunites with Wingard following their 2014 thriller film The Guest.
Further details about the project are still kept under wraps, but initial reports last year suggested that it would potentially be titled Son of Kong. The project will again be produced by Eric McLeod.

The 2021 film was directed by Wingard from a screenplay written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein. It starred Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and more. Despite its simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max debut, it still went on to earn a gross of more than $460 million at the worldwide box office.
