Speaking to ComicBook.com, Egerton said that he would “love to” play Wolverine if given the chance, and in a recent interview with The New York Times, the actor also revealed that he had actually just recently had meetings with Marvel Studios, including the company’s president Kevin Feige.
Of course, when it came down to speaking of the role, Egerton was coy, simply saying that he’d be nervous about succeeding Hugh Jackman’s legendary turn as the comic book character.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that,” Egerton said of wanting to play the role. “I’d be excited but I’d be apprehensive as well because Hugh is so associated with the role that I’d wonder if it’d be very difficult for someone else to do it. But hopefully, if it does come around, they’ll give me a shot.”

Egerton, who is best known for his roles in the Kingsman films, is just one of many actors who have been rumored or theorized to play the role of Wolverine. With Marvel Studios set to arrive at San Diego Comic-Con later this month, too, perhaps fans will finally get more information on what the X-Men will look like in the MCU.
