The highly anticipated Jurassic World Dominion isn’t out yet, but actress DeWanda Wise has already hinted at the possibility of seeing an extended cut of the film.

Speaking to Collider, Wise was asked about her character — former Air Force pilot Kayla Watts — and what fans can expect to see from her. Wise mentioned that she and director Colin Trevorrow, along with co-writer Emily Carmichael, developed a bit of a backstory for her character, and that fans could potentially see it in an extended cut of the film.
“She had this moment, and it’s probably gonna be in the extended cut, maybe, we’ll see, but she has this beautiful pair of brass knuckles and we have this entire backstory of this adventure that she had gone on in South Africa — [laughs] Girl, I love backstories! — where she procured these knuckles,” said Wise. “Because a lot of Kayla has this kind of Indiana Jones, she’s been everywhere. Some of her travels are for work and she goes on them because she has to go on them, and some are just for her.”

Of course, it’s not unsurprising to hear that more footage was filmed than will be used in the actual finished film, but it is noteworthy that Wise mentioned the extended cut as if it were something that was definitely happening. Generally, these longer cuts of the film end up making their way out on physical releases of the film, so if Jurassic World Dominion ends up receiving one, fans will have to wait for the home release of the film to see it.
Jurassic World Dominion features the return of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, and BD Wong. Joining them are original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Campbell Scott.
The third installment will also be introducing new characters, portrayed by Mamoudou Athie, Wise, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze, and Isabella Sermon.
