Sturgess, Cornish, Harris and Garcia to Face Geostorm

Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia are in talks to join Gerard Butler in Dean Devlin’s Geostorm, the sci-fi adventure from Skydance Productions that will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The story sees Butler playing a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother (Sturgess) to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. A trip into space follows, while on Earth a plot to assassinate the president begins to unfold.

The Hollywood Reporter says Cornish will play Sturgess’ girlfriend, a Secret Service agent. Harris will play the Secretary of State, and Garcia will play the President.

Geostorm is being eyed for an October shoot in New Orleans.

The script was written by Devlin, as well as Kieran and Michelle Mulroney. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg are producing via Skydance. Also producing are Devlin’s partners at Electric Entertainment, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan. Paul Schwake will executive produce.

Drew Crevello and Nik Mavinkurve are overseeing for the studio.
