Batgirl 2: Star Leslie Grace Has Spoken to Filmmakers About Sequel

Actress Leslie Grace is set to star in the upcoming HBO Max film Batgirl, and in a recent interview with Variety, Grace teased she’s already ready for a sequel.

“We got to see this first one first,” said Grace when asked when a second film might be on the way. “But there’s definitely some talks about what it could be. I’ve seen some of what we’ve shot, obviously in the playback and stuff like that, and it’s insane.”

Grace went on to say that she and filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have already begun talks about a sequel and where it would take the heroine.

“We’ve already been talking about where do we take this from here because there’s so much that happens in this film,” Grace said. “There are a lot of different themes in the plot that we touch on. It’s not just the action. There’s a love story. There’s this father-daughter relationship. There’s looking at the world through a lens that isn’t just black and white and seeing the color and the spectrum between things.”

The live-action film also features the return of Oscar winner J.K. Simmons (Zack Snyder’s Justice League) and Michael Keaton (The Flash), who are set to reprise their respective roles of Commissioner Gordon, and Bruce Wayne/ Batman. Additional cast includes Jacob Scipio, Ethan Kai, Corey Johnson, Rebecca Front, and Brendan Fraser in his second role with the DC Universe as the villain Firefly.

Batgirl is being directed by Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a screenplay written by Christina Hodson (Birds of PreyThe Flash). It is a production by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films, with Kristin Burr (Cruella) producing.
