Taking to Instagram to share the news, Dwayne Johnson confirmed the news, noting that the Super-Pets film would now be premiering on July 29, 2022, the date previously held by the now delayed Black Adam film. It’s unclear what the reason for the delay was, but now Super-Pets will be launching in a fairly lucrative time of year for films, right in the middle of the summer season.

“In the film, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side,” reads the synopsis. “When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the Super Heroes.”
Based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, DC League of Super-Pets will be led by Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson as Krypto the Superdog, and Kevin Hart (The Secret Life of Pets) as Ace the Bathound, the crime-fighting canine partner to Batman and Robin.
It will also feature the voices of John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) as Clark Kent/Superman, Keanu Reeves (Constantine) as Bruce Wayne/Batman; Diego Luna (Andor) as Chip, Green Lantern’s squirrel, Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll) as Merton, The Flash’s turtle, Vanessa Byer (Saturday Night Live) as PB, Wonder Woman’s pig, and Marc Maron as Lex Luthor along with Kate McKinnon and Jameela Jamil in undisclosed roles.
