Ice Age: Scrat Tales Poster & Photos Tease Next Disney+ Animated Shorts

Following the Disney+ debut of Walt Disney Pictures and 20th Century Animation’s first spin-off The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, the streamer has officially announced their next Ice Age project in the form of six new animated shorts. Set to be titled as Ice Age: Scrat Tales, the short films will center around the beloved saber-toothed squirrel Scrat, and his mischievous kid Baby Scrat. It will be available for streaming starting on April 13.

The announcement also came with the release of its key-art poster and photos, which you can check out below, teasing the adorable father-son bond between Scrat and Baby Scrat.

“It is a series of six all-new animated shorts starring Scrat, the hapless saber-toothed squirrel of the “Ice Age” adventures, who experiences the ups and downs of fatherhood, as he and the adorable, mischievous Baby Scrat, alternately bond with each other and battle for ownership of the highly treasured Acorn,” reads the synopsis.

Ice Age: Scrat Tales will be featuring the voices of Chris Wedges as Scrat, and Karl Wahlgren as Baby Scrat. It is executive produced by Robert L. Baird and Andrew Millstein, with Anthony Nisi set as a producer.

The full details of the six animated shorts, which were all directed by Donnie Long, are listed below:

  • Directed by Michael Berardini and Donnie Long from a story by Berardini, the animated short titled “Nuts About You,” features Scrat meeting his son Baby Scrat and experiences the pure joy of being a new parent—until Baby Scrat sees The Acorn for the first time.
  • Directed by Long and Matt Munn from a story by Long, the animated short titled “LoFi Scrat Beats to Sleep/Chill to,” will see Scrat pounding out a percussive lullaby to get a crying Baby Scrat to fall asleep.
  • Directed by Long, and Drew Winey from a story by James Young Jackson and Winey, the animated short titled “X’s and Uh-O’s,” shows Scrat teaching Baby Scrat how to plant The Acorn, but Scrat is really the one being taught a lesson.
  • Directed by Long and Eric Prah from a story by Galen Tan Chu, the animated short titled “Nutty Reflections,” features Scrat and Baby Scrat as they run after The Acorn into a dark cave, which resembles a creepy funhouse hall of mirrors
  • Directed by Jeff Gabor and Long from story by Galen Tan Chu, the animated short titled “Teeter Toddler,” features Scrat and Baby Scrat on opposite sides of a log being held up by a single branch due to a dodo bird.
  • Directed by Lisa Allen Keane and Long from story by Michael Thurmeier, the animated short titled “Nut The End,” shows The Acorn flying off a cliff. With it seemingly gone forever, can Scrat and Baby Scrat live in harmony?

Ice Age was produced by Blue Sky Studios, a division of 20th Century Fox. Voicing the prehistoric animals trying to survive extinction throughout the series were Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah, Josh Peck, and Seann William Scott. Five Ice Age movies have been released in theaters between 2002 and 2016 with a combined worldwide gross of $3.2 billion.
