Sony’s Marvel Film Kraven the Hunter Adds Russell Crowe

Oscar winner Russell Crowe (GladiatorThor: Love and Thunder) is joining Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Sony’s Marvel film Kraven the Hunter, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal AnimalsTenet) is playing the lead role in the movie and previously signed a multi-picture deal to portray the Spider-Man villain last year.

Kraven the Hunter, whose real name is Sergei Kravinoff, was first introduced in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #15 back in 1964. As his moniker suggests, he’s a hunter with a superhuman ability to track his prey. More than 20 years later, his definitive story, Kraven’s Last Hunt, became a landmark moment in Spider-Man’s long and increasingly complicated canon.
