After four years since the theatrical release of Den of Thieves, Deadline brings word that the 2018 action heist film’s long-in-development sequel titled Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is finally moving forward with its production. Returning lead star and producer Gerard Butler is preparing to start filming the project in the late spring of this year in Serbia and France.
In addition, it has also been confirmed that O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) and Meadow Williams (Boss Level) have been tapped to reprise their respective roles as Donnie Wilson and Holly. Joining them is a new member of the franchise, Swen Temmel (After), who is also set as an executive producer.

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera will once again be written and directed by Christian Gudegast, who has reportedly spent time with investigators, and notorious thieves in order to prepare for the sequel. The project was first announced in 2018, following the first film’s theatrical release which earned a worldwide gross of $80 million at the box office.
“In the film, Butler returns as Big Nick, this time on the hunt in Europe for Donnie who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange,” reads the synopsis.
The sequel will be produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson along with returning producers Tucker Tooley, and Alan Siegel. Diamond Films’ Meadow Williams will be executive producing along with Glenn Feig.

The upcoming sequel is part of Butler’s long list of upcoming action projects including Night Has Fallen, The Plane, Kandahar, and Greenland: Migration.
