With the role of James Bond currently empty following Daniel Craig’s final role in No Time to Die, Tom Holland revealed that he was one of the actors to throw his name into the ring to be the next actor to portray the iconic spy.

“I had a meeting, after or during [Spider Man: Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with,” Holland said in an interview with Total Film magazine (via Variety). “It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate [was] particularly interested.”
While Holland may think that the pitch didn’t go so well, he believes that the initial discussion of an origin story for a character is what sparked Sony to approach Holland about taking up the role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted film. “The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you could do a Nathan Drake story as an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. And that opened a conversation.”

Holland’s comments echo comments from his Spider-Man co-star Jacob Batalon, who told GQ in November that Holland had been mentioning playing the role of James Bond “a lot.” While it seems like Holland is very keen on portraying Bond, it’s unclear just who will get the chance to do when the time comes to cast a new Bond.
