Apple Nearing Rights Deal For Brad Pitt-Led Formula One Racing Film

Following a month-long bidding war against multiple studios and streamers, it looks like Apple Studios is in the clear lead of finishing the race as they officially enter the final negotiations for the rights to the untitled Brad Pitt-led Formula One racing film. Deadline brings word that the project’s package deal will reportedly cost Apple around $130-140 million range.

This acquisition comes after the studio had also previously nabbed the rights to another upcoming Brad Pitt-fronted thriller film which hails from Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts. It is set to reunite Oscar winners George Clooney and Brad Pitt after 13 years since The Coen Brothers’ 2008 black comedy crime pic Burn After Reading.

The untitled project will be directed by Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger. It will feature Pitt portraying a veteran racer who comes out of retirement to mentor a rookie and take his final stab at glory on the track as the younger driver’s teammate.

The racing film will be produced by Pitt’s production company Plan B along with legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer. There is currently no word yet on who will be taking over the other leading role opposite Pitt’s character.
