According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is officially partnering with Legendary and AfterShock Media for the upcoming film adaptation of God Country, based on Donny Cates’ fantasy comic book of the same name. This marks the streamer’s latest collaboration with the studio and Sweet Tooth showrunner Jim Mickle, who has signed on to direct the project.

Described as a high-stakes fantasy story, God Country is written by Donny Cates and was illustrated by Geoff Shaw. Since its debut in 2017, it instantly received critical acclaim, with the first issue immediately selling out and was reprinted four times before it was collected in trade paperback.

The film adaptation will be directed by Mickle from a screenplay he will co-write with Cates. It will be produced by Legendary’s Mary Parent & Ali Mendes, AfterShocks’ Lee and Jon Kramer, and Mickle & Linda Moran for Nightshade.
