HBO’s Juice WRLD Documentary Will Feature Several Unreleased Tracks

HBO has released a new trailer for its upcoming Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss documentary, which is set to release later this month in celebration of the late artist’s birthday.

Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss is billed as “an intimate, immersive exploration” of the highly popular rapper Juice WRLD. The documentary chronicles the last years of his life as he goes on tours, and features “never-before-seen footage” as well as “several unreleased tracks” from the artist.

Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss captures the Chicago native during the last years of his life as he freestyles with friends, collaborates with music producers, and performs in front of audiences worldwide,” reads the official synopsis for the documentary. “The film includes a wealth of never-before-seen footage, including several unreleased tracks, and dozens of industry interviews as it details Juice WRLD’s struggles to reconcile his meteoric rise to fame with underlying mental health issues and a growing dependency on prescription drugs.”

Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss will debut on HBO and HBO Max on Thursday, December 16, a week after what would have been the artist’s 22nd birthday. The documentary was directed by Tommy Oliver and is presented as part of HBO’s Music Box series, which is executive produced by Bill Simmons. The Music Box series has so far produced documentaries on Woodstock ’99 and Alanis Morissette, and also has projects that will focus on DMX, Kenny G, and music manager Robert Stigwood as well as part of its “one iconic series, six singular films” slogan.
