According to Deadline, Netflix is currently in the process of developing an English-language remake of Time to Hunt, based on the streamer’s original South Korean dystopian action-thriller film which debuted last year. In addition, Night Teeth director Adam Randall has also signed on to helm the project, which he pitched to the streamer this summer through a 150-page document.
“I watched the movie early in lockdown and thought it was a really strong concept,” Randall said in a statement. “It’s half heist, half chase movie, set in a near dystopia, so it combines three of my favourite cinematic genres. The version I’m working on is set in the U.S. with a different story but similar structure. From what I understand, this is the first time Netflix has optioned one of its own foreign-language movies. The option process was a little complicated but is now done.”

The original film was written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Yoon Sung-hyun (Bleak Night). It was the first Korean film to be invited to 70th Berlin International Film Festival for a special gala screening.
Set in a near-future Korea where the country has been hit by a financial crisis, Time to Hunt centers on four friends as they get hunted by an unknown man, while they carry out a dangerous plan to get a fresh start in life.

The film starred Lee Je-hoon (Signal, Move to Heaven), Choi Woo-shik (Parasite), Ahn Jae-hong (Reply 1988, Fight for My Way), Park Jeong-min (Deliver Us from Evil), and Squid Game star Park Hae-soo, who will next be seen as Berlin in Netflix’s Korean remake of the hit series Money Heist.
