Jeff Nichols is no longer directing the next entry in the A Quiet Place series, leaving the spin-off without a director for the time being.
According to a recent report from Deadline, Nichols and Paramount parted ways after the director decided to pivot and focus on another project at Paramount instead. According to the report, agencies are already submitting replacements for Nichols and Paramount is aiming to find a new director quite soon, given the popularity of the A Quiet Place series.

Initially set to be written and directed by Nichols, this entry in the world of A Quiet Place won’t be a sequel to the recently released A Quiet Place Part II. Instead, the film will be based on an idea from John Krasinski, and act more as a spin-off from the main films. The report states that the film is very early in development and nothing is concrete yet, but the plan is to help broaden the post-apocalyptic, monster-ridden world that Krasinski introduced in the original 2018 film. This third film in the series is scheduled to release on March 31, 2023.
After being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, A Quiet Place Part II launched over Memorial Day weekend and quickly shot to the top of the box office. The film tallied a $57 million four-day opening, and made $69.1 million in its first week, outpacing the original film and showing that the series’ success wasn’t short-lived.

The second installment saw the return of Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, who is now leading the family’s survival following the death of Lee. Joining her are returning cast Noah Jupe as Marcus and Millicent Simmonds as Regan, along with new cast members, Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
