Ryan Reynolds Announces Sabbatical After Filming Wraps on Spirited

Ryan Reynolds announced that the production on Apple Studios’ musical reimagining of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol titled Spirited has finally been completed. In addition, Reynolds had also unveiled the first Spirited set photos which you can check out below, teasing some of the film’s big musical numbers.

In the blockbuster actor’s Instagram post, he also announced that he’s taking a short sabbatical from movie making. This is very understandable given that he had busy filming back-to-back projects these past two years from the heist thriller Red Notice to the sci-fi pic The Adam Project, which are both upcoming star-studded projects for Netflix.

A reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic, the Spirited movie will feature Ryan Reynolds for the leading role along with Will Ferrell as Ghost of Christmas Present. The project will be written and directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, who are reuniting with Ferrell after working together on Daddy’s Home. It will be produced by Anders, Morris, Ferrell, Reynolds, Jessica Elbaum, and George Dewey, with Gloria Sanchez Productions, Maximum Effort, and Two Grown Men producing.

A Christmas Carol is the famous tale of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. There have been many feature adaptations of the story, including Bill Murray’s Scrooged, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Jim Carrey’s 2009 animated take from Robert Zemeckis, and the 1984 film starring Oscar winner George C. Scott.
