Now that he’s done portraying James Bond, Daniel Craig is headed back to Broadway, as he has joined the cast of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, according to a recent report from Deadline.

Craig will be joined by Ruth Negga, who has also joined the cast to play the titular Lady Macbeth in the upcoming stage production. The play is set to begin performances on March 29, 2022 at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre, before it officially opens on April 28, 2022. The play will run for 15 weeks, with Tony Award-winning director Sam Gold attached as the director for the stage production.
“Daniel is not only a great film actor but a magnificent theatre actor as well,” said Macbeth producer Barbara Broccoli. “I am thrilled that he will be supporting the return of Broadway playing this iconic role with the exquisitely talented Ruth Negga making her Broadway debut and under the expert direction of Sam Gold.”

Craig is no stranger to the stage, having starred in a variety of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions in his past. His most recent Broadway run came in 2013, where he portrayed Robert in Betrayal. Prior to that, he played Joey in 2009’s A Steady Rain, which marked his debut on Broadway.
