The film, titled This is Always, will be written and directed by Mina Shum, with Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Hawaii Five-0, Raya and the Last Dragon) currently in talks to star. This is Always is said to be based on a successful Japanese television series, Pure Soul, and follows two forty-somethings who live their lives free of commitment until they meet one another. However, when a tragic unforeseen incident turns their lives upside down, they’ll have to figure out if they’re still perfect for one another.
This is Always will be executive produced by Mina Shum, with Km and John Cheng also producing the film via 3AD. Kimura will also produce. Kimura was the creator of Pure Soul while she was working with YTV.
