Lionsgate has announced that Pitch Perfect vet Anna Kendrick has officially signed on for the leading role in Mary Nighy’s forthcoming feature directorial debut titled Alice, Darling, which is being described as a psychological thriller. His House actress Wunmi Mosaku, who is currently appearing in Disney+’s hit MCU series Loki, has also joined the main cast. Production on the project has already begun in Canada.
“Alice, Darling is a subtle, nuanced story about coercion and control,” Nighy said in a statement. “As a director, I couldn’t wish for a better cast of talented actors and creatives to bring this important story to life. The chemistry between Anna Kendrick, Wunmi Mosaku, and Kaniehtiio Horn as the three friends is a joy to see.”

Alice, Darling centers around Alice, who is behaving strangely, keeping secrets about her mercurial boyfriend from her two best friends. When the three friends take a girl’s trip out of town, all secrets are revealed when a local girl goes missing and Alice’s boyfriend arrives unannounced.

The film is being directed by Mary Nighy from a screenplay written by Alanna Francis. Joining Kendrick and Mosaku are Kaniehtiio Horn (Letterkenny) and Charlie Carrick (Reign).

Alice, Darling is a production by Lionsgate, Babe Nation Films, Elevation Pictures, and Castelletto Films, with Lionsgate to handle the worldwide distribution, except in Canada which will be handled by Elevation. It is executive produced by Anna Kendrick and Sam Tipper-Hale, with Katie Bird Nolan, Lindsay Tapscott, Christina Piovesan, and Noah Segal set as producers.
