It was announced earlier this week that Leslie Mann is set to be among the headlining trio of the upcoming DreamWorks comedy Las Madres. Today, Variety reports that one of the other two leading roles will be filled by Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer (The Help).
An original story by Lona Williams, Las Madres is being drafted by Pam Brady. The high-concept comedy revolves around a group of friends who decide to overcome their financial woes by tracking down a criminal with a big price on his head.
Spencer is working with DreamWorks Animation for an upcoming project as well. She’ll lend her voice to B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations opposite a voice cast that also includes Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, Rashida Jones, Matt Bomer, Bill Murray and Jennifer Coolidge. She can also soon be seen in director Bong Joon-ho’s Snowpiercer, which receives a domestic release June 27.
