BAFTA nominee Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals, Tenet, A Million Little Pieces) has reportedly been cast in the lead role as Kraven the Hunter in Sony Pictures’ upcoming solo Marvel movie, according to TheWrap. The outlet reports that the studio has locked in Taylor-Johnson for multiple pictures portraying the Spider-Man villain.

In Kraven the Hunter, Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff (Taylor-Johnson), aka Kraven the Hunter, is on a mission to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world.
Kraven the Hunter will be directed by Oscar nominee J.C. Chandor (Margin Call, A Most Violent Year, Triple Frontier) from a screenplay by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer films, The Magnificent Seven, The Mechanic). Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are attached to produce the project. The movie is being billed as the next chapter of Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SPUMC). The film is expected to be released on January 13, 2023.

Kraven the Hunter, whose real name is Sergei Kravinoff, was first introduced in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #15 back in 1964. As his moniker suggests, he’s a hunter with a superhuman ability to track his prey. More than 20 years later, his definitive story, Kraven’s Last Hunt, became a landmark moment in Spider-Man’s long and increasingly complicated canon.
