With just three months left to go before the highly-anticipated debut of The Suicide Squad, director James Gunn continues to hype up the upcoming DC film by teasing fans with new details of the characters. In a recent interview with Associated Press, Gunn went on to praise Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn while teasing that he has given the character the coolest and biggest action sequence in The Suicide Squad due to Robbie’s commendable talents. He also shared how much fun he had while shooting the said action scene and that it was probably his most favorite four-minute scene ever.
“She can do anything. Or I thought she could do anything. And then one day she had to sing, and I said, ‘OK, well you can do everything but one thing.’ But she’s such a great actress. She embodies the character. She’s able to do the comedy. She’s able to do the drama,” Gunn said about Robbie. “And physically, she is a pure athlete and is able to do these stunts in such a graceful, magnificent, beautiful way.”
He continued, “And so I wrote the biggest action scene I’ve ever done all around (Robbie’s character) Harley, and it was so fun to create just on every level from working with the stunt guys all the way through to working with her. It’s probably my favorite four minutes of film I’ve ever shot before.”
This is true. Not only the most fun I’ve ever had on set, and the most impressed I ever was with a performer, it’s probably the coolest action sequence I’ve ever shot. #TheSuicideSquad The Suicide Squad @SuicideSquadWB @MargotRobbie https://t.co/nnFMtPG28i

The film is directed by Gunn from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC. Charles Roven and Peter Safran are producing while Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo, Nikolas Korda, and Richard Suckle are executive producing. The ensemble roster for James Gunn’s standalone sequel includes the return of DCEU alums Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, and Viola Davis, who are reprising their roles as Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag, and Amanda Waller from the 2016 David Ayer-directed film.
The official synopsis for The Suicide Squad reads:
“Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.”
