Home Team is a family comedy that’s loosely inspired by New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, and his experiences during his year-long suspension from the NFL. Two years after winning the Super Bowl, Payton is suspended for a year, and returns to his hometown and finds himself reconnecting with his 12-year-old son by coaching his Pop Warner football team.

In real life, Payton was suspended for the 2012 season due to his role in the Saints’ “Bountygate” scandal, which saw the team allegedly paying players for trying to injure players on the opposing team. James will play the part of Payton in the film, which is set to be produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison and James’ Hey Eddie production houses. Charles Kinnane and Daniel Kinnane are co-directing the film, which is currently in production.
