The feature is inspired by the life and music of American composer George Gershwin, with Scorcese and Winkler attached as producers and Carney set to direct and co-write the film. The name of the film is a reference to Gershwin’s iconic song of the name, and is said to center around “a young woman’s magical journey through past and present New York City.”

According to the initial report, the Gershwin estate is on board with the film, and it will feature the composer’s music throughout it. This marks another entry into the musical genre for director John Carney, as he’s previously been at the helm of the Irish romantic musical Once, as well as the Oscar-nominated Begin Again and the equally acclaimed Sing Street.

Winkler himself is also an iconic film producer, attaching himself to films like the Rocky and Creed franchises, as well as They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? and The Right Stuff.
