The film, penned by Finnegan’s frequent collaborator Garret Shanley (Vivarium), follows fashion designer (Green) who is suffering from a mysterious illness that confounds her doctors and frustrates her husband (Strong) – until help arrives in the form of a Filipino nanny who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth. Set between London and Manila the film explores consumerism, human exploitation and the fast fashion industry as well as placebos/nocebos and the power of the mind to harm or cure the physical body.
The project is being produced by Emily Leo of Wild Swim Films and Brunella Cocchiglia of Lovely Productions alongside Filipino co-producers Bianca Balbuena and Bradley Law of Epic Media. XYZ Films, who also worked with Finnegan on his previous works Vivarium and Without Name, are handling international sales at the European Film Market and executive producing with Media Finance Capital and The Film Development Council of the Philippines assisting in development with Screen Ireland.
