John Boyega is Done With The Star Wars Universe

In response to a comment on his post in which a fan stated they would like to see “Force Finn in action” wielding a green lightsaber in the next Star Wars film, the 28-year-old star simply responded with “lol no thank you. I’ve moved on”. Boyega has not been shy about his frustrations with his role across The Force AwakensThe Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, lamenting filmmakers, producers and studio heads for how his character was mishandled and developed in the sequel trilogy.

Boyega is also not the first actor in the sequel trilogy to confirm they are done with the Disney-owned franchise, with Poe Dameron performer Oscar Isaac (Dune) stating in an interview during the lead up to Skywalker‘s release he had no interest in reprising his role, be it for a Disney+ series or film and that there was no amount of money he would accept to go back.

The British-Nigerian actor has a full roster of upcoming projects on his docket including the law drama Naked Singularity, Steve McQueen-created/directed/executive produced anthology drama Small Axe and Netflix thrillers They Cloned Tyrone and Rebel Ridge. He has also used his recent downtime from filming to take part in political activism for the Black Lives Matter movement in his home city of London.
