After nearly a year since the theatrical release of Under the Silver Lake in 2019, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that director David Robert Mitchell has finally set his next film project as MGM officially picks up his brand new superhero film titled Heroes & Villains. This new project comes on the heels of Netflix acquiring the Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt-led superhero film titled Ball and Chain.

Written by Mitchell, Further details about Heroes & Villains is being kept under wraps but it is being described as a genre-blending and genre-bending project which will have a new take on the popular genre. According to the outlet’s sources, the director is hoping to start with the casting soon.
On top of writing and directing, David Robert Mitchell will also serve as producer along with Good Fear Content’s Chris Bender and Jake Weiner.

Heroes & Villains will mark Mitchell’s fifth directorial film as he previously worked on 2002’s Virgin, IFC Films’ coming-of-age film The Myth of the American Sleepover, and 2015’s supernatural horror film It Follows which had instantly received critical acclaim and it currently has a rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. His most recent feature was the neo-noir black comedy thriller Under the Silver Lake which starred Oscar nominee Andrew Garfield.
