Just when you thought there might not be enough mutants in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past, another one pops up. In an interview with MTV, actor Evan Jonigkeit revealed that he will be playing a younger version of Toad in the upcoming sequel. When asked how he got ready for the film, Jongkeit replied:
“I read a lot of the comic books. I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad. X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool.”
Though he wouldn’t reveal his character’s look for the film, Jonigkeit says that it’s different from how the character appearaed in the first film saying: “The aesthetics of the character are much different, and I’m not really allowed to say a whole lot more than that.”
When asked specifically about aesthetic changes, he added: “It’s darker. I would say it’s a darker tone.” You can check out the full video interview with Konigkeit below!
Hitting theaters on May 23, 2014, the anticipated film stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halley Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.
