Yesterday, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Taika Waititi had hosted a live commentary of Thor: Ragnarok on Instagram which featured special MCU guests Tessa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo. During the watch party, Waititi opened up about Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, revealing that he had already done five drafts of the film’s script, with Thompson sharing that she hasn’t been able to read the latest draft yet. The director also promised that the follow-up will be much more insane than Ragnarok as he teases the appearance of Space Sharks from the comics.
“It’s so over the top now in the very best way. It makes ‘Ragnarok’ seem like a really run of the mill, very safe film… this new film feels like we asked a bunch of 10 year olds what should be in a movie and just said yes to everything.” Waititi said (via Collider).
In addition, Waititi also confirmed that fans should expect more Korg in the upcoming film as his alien character’s origins will be further explored. He also shared a glimpse of the first Thor: Love and Thunder art which you can check out below, featuring a new design for Miek and New Asgard.
“We do touch on Korg’s — how should I say it? — culture. Where he’s from… a few of the cultural specificities of Kronans… if you look in the comics there’s some stuff about how they procreate”

Thor: Love and Thunder will be directed by Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit) on a script co-written by him and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great), which will be the followup to Waititi’s wildly successful 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Oscar winner Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane and will now be wielding the mighty Mjolnir. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. Academy Award winner Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) will portray the main antagonist in the film. The female Thor storyline is based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor” in which a cancer-stricken Jane Foster takes up the mantle and powers of Thor.
Thor and Valkyrie were last seen in this year’s highest-grossing film of all time Avengers: Endgame, with the god of thunder entrusting his responsibilities as the King of Asgard to Valkyrie as he joins the Guardians of the Galaxy on their next mission. According to Vin Diesel, the Guardians might also make an appearance in the fourth Thor film.
