Following the death of Paul Walker on November 30th, Universal Pictures shut down production on Fast & Furious 7. While the studio did not immediately confirm that the release date would be pushed back as well, it was expected, and 20th Century Fox’s decision a bit later to move Dawn of the Planet of the Apes up one week to July 11, 2014 made it almost a certainty that Universal wasn’t going to make the date.
It was previously reported that Universal was hoping to resume production in late January 2014. Now, Vin Diesel has confirmed that the release date has been moved back to April 10, 2015, a date which the seventh installment has by itself at the moment. Diesel posted the below photo on Facebook and included the following:
The last scene we filmed together?
There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared? in the film we were now completing? the magic captured? and, in just how far we’ve come?
Fast and Furious 7 will be released?
April 10th 2015!
P.s. He’d want you to know first?
Directed by James Wan, the film also stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Tony Jaa, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Djimon Hounsou, Lucas Black and John Brotherton.
