IFC Films has successfully acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to director Sean Durkin’s upcoming drama thriller film titled The Nest, starring two-time Academy Award nominee Jude Law and Emmy Award nominee Carrie Coon. The film had its world premiere last January at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival.
“I am very excited to partner with IFC who have shown such bold support for the film,” Durkin said in a statement (via Variety). “I look forward to working together to get ‘The Nest’ out to audiences across the country.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Sean on his assured follow up to ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene,’ and were blown away by the brilliant performances of Jude Law and Carrie Coon,” EVP of acquisitions and productions at IFC Films, Arianna Bocco said. “‘The Nest’ is the perfect addition to the IFC Films family and we can’t wait to share it with audiences nationwide.”

The Nest follows the story of a charming and ambitious businessman named Rory as he relocates his wife Allison and their children from suburban America to his native England. The plan is to get rich in the booming 1980s London. While Rory’s career continues to rise in the city, Allison and the kids struggle to adapt. Soon, their family gets further apart as they find themselves stuck in the country in a run-down mansion they can’t afford to furnish.
The film stars Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley) as Rory, Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Allison, Charlie Shotwell (Eli, Troop Zero) as Benjamin, Michael Culkin (The Crown) as Arthur Davies, Adeel Akhtar (Murdered by My Father) as Steve and Oona Roche (The Morning Show) as Sam. It will also feature Anne Reid, Wendy Crewson, and Tattiawna Jones.
