Matt Reeves is continuing to build an all-star roster for The Batman that is already being led by Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) in the titular role, as he has taken to Twitter to announce that John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) is set to portray notorious gangster Carmine Falcone! The Gotham City crime boss was previously appeared onscreen in Batman Begins, as played by Tom Wilkinson. He first appeared in Frank Miller’s four-part story Batman: Year One, and had a major role in the popular storyline Batman: The Long Halloween.

In addition to Turturro, the cast recently saw Andy Serkis (Black Panther) confirmed to the cast as Alfred Pennyworth, butler and father figure to the dark knight, after he had entered talks a couple of months ago to join the ensemble cast. It also saw newcomer Jayme Lawson join a star-studded cast that will be led by Robert Pattinson (Good Time, The Lighthouse) as the titular dark knight. The film will also be featuring Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and Paul Dano as the Riddler, with Colin Farrell reportedly in talks to portray the roles of Penguin, respectively.
Reeves’ story has been described as a character-driven project focusing on Batman’s experiences as the world’s greatest detective. The filmmaker has also said to expect a “Rogue’s Gallery” of villains in the movie.
