Deadline is reporting that Shriek will be joining Carnage in Sony’s upcoming Venom 2. In the Marvel Comics, Shriek is the love interest and an accomplice of Carnage.
Frances Barrison, aka Shriek, was first introduced in Spider-Man Unlimited No. 1 in May 1993. Her powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others. Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, was briefly introduced into the Venom movie franchise during the original film’s mid-credits scene that revealed Woody Harrelson as Venom’s archenemy. It was recently confirmed that Harrelson would be returning for the Venom sequel.

Additionally, Venom director Ruben Fleischer revealed that he expects Tom Holland’s Spider-Man to eventually confront Tom Hardy’s Venom. According to Slash Film, Fleischer said: “That’s where it’s all going to lead. And that’s the exciting thing because we changed the origin of Venom… In the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing, we weren’t able to that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”
Andy Serkis will direct Venom 2, marking his first forray in directing a comic book feature after appearing in two Marvel Studios movies. Venom 2 will mark the third feature film Serkis will tackle as director following Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, which released on Netflix last year.
Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock in the film alongside Michelle Williams as Anne Weying. Woody Harrelson will also appear as Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage, a showdown set up in a post-credit scene in the first film.
