Deadline reports that Walt Disney Studios is developing a “live-action family-adventure movie” titled Knights which would be set in the Middle Ages in Europe.
Written by Matt Orton, the trade reports that the film will center on a young woman that “joins a knight on his quest to destroy a world-threatening artifact before it falls into the wrong hands.” The film is being developed for theatrical distribution and not the upcoming Disney+ platform
Further details on a timeframe and other talent involved are not known at this time but this isn’t the only medieval movie being developed at the studio as a live-action Sword in the Stone is in the works as well as the film The Merlin Saga with Ridley Scott set to direct.
Disney’s upcoming live-action slate features primarily films based on other properties, with Knights seemingly a fully original feature not based on another film, book, or story.
