From Johnson’s character posters, Christopher Plummer is Harlan Thrombey, the world’s most successful mystery writer and the patriarch of this whole insidious clan. When he turns up dead under mysterious circumstances, the game is afoot…
LaKeith Stanfield is Detective Elliott, the cool-headed local police detective who is ready to rule Harlan’s death a suicide. But when the clues and motives start to surface, he’s suddenly not so certain.
Ana de Armas is Marta Cabrera, Harlan’s devoted caregiver. She was closest to Harlan and has some secrets of her own to keep. Are they secrets worth killing for?
Michael Shannon is Walt Thrombey, Harlan’s youngest son. Walt runs the family publishing company, but his ambitions reach much farther. Would he kill for them?
Jaeden Martell is Walt’s son, who spends every moment of the day on his phone. Could he have trolled his way into murder?
Toni Collette is Joni Thrombey, Harlan’s daughter-in-law. She’s made a killing with her lifestyle brand Flam, but if she was desperate enough, would she stop there?
Katherine Langford is Meg Thrombey, Joni’s daughter, who is well studied at the best liberal arts colleges in New England. But could her syllabus have included cutlery skills?

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis explained that “the film centers on a detective (Daniel Craig) investigating a murder when he comes across an eccentric, combative family.” She also noted the family gathering setting “turns bloody very quickly. These people put the ‘dis’ in dysfunctional, which should play very well this Thanksgiving weekend.”
During Lionsgate’s presentation, Johnson revealed that he is a die-hard Agatha Christie fan and that Knives Out was an attempt to take all the aspects he loved about the famed writer, “jam it into an all-star cast, give it a Hitchcock thriller, genre twist and set it in modern-day America.”
The all-star ensemble cast of Knives Out includes Daniel Craig (Spectre), along with Chris Evans (Avengers: Infinity War), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water), LaKeith Stanfield (Sorry To Bother You), Don Johnson (Book Club), Toni Collette (Hereditary), Christopher Plummer (Beginners), Katherine Langford (Love, Simon), Riki Lindhome (Kidding), Edi Patterson (The Last O.G.), Raúl Castillo (Atypical), and Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween).
