The indie thriller Unsound just cast Anna Kendrick in the starring role. Bharat Nalluri (Life on Mars, Hustle) will be directing in the film, which comes from a screenplay by Matthew Ross (Nashville) and Christopher Edwards.
Specifics are still under wraps, but according to Variety, who reported Kendrick’s casting, the film will tell the story of a New England state trooper who struggles with irreversible hearing loss while investigating a gang leader’s prison escape. As she continues to dig into the case, she ends up uncovering a huge criminal conspiracy that could upend everything.

Kendrick is also slated to star in the upcoming Christmas comedy Noelle as Santa’s daughter. She also recently wrapped the first season of Become Human on Facebook Watch, a prehistoric animated series that also features Zac Efron and Jillian Bell. The actress is also set to reprise her role of Poppy in Trolls World War, and star in the upcoming sci-fi flick Stowaway. She’ll also topline Paul Feig’s upcoming anthology series Love Life, which will be part of the WarnerMedia streaming service, which is currently in pre-production.
