Variety reports that filmmaker Taika Waititi has one more trick up his sleeve before he returns to the world of the God of Thunder. Waititi has a secret movie in the works at Fox Searchlight which he will write and direct, plot details on the project aren’t known.
Production on the mystery movie will start in the fall with Garrett Basch producing for Fox Searchlight, and Jonathan Cavendish and Andy Serkis producing under the Imaginarium banner. Given Serkis and Imaginarium’s involvement, it’s certainly possible the film could employ motion capture in some form but this remains unconfirmed.
The new project being set up at Fox Searchlight bodes well for Waititi’s upcoming Jojo Rabbit, which arrives this October from the studio division.
Waititi will reportedly start shooting the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder in early 2020, production on that movie will take place in Australia like 2017’s Ragnarok. Natalie Portman is set to return as Jane Foster and is expected to take on the mantle of Mighty Thor in thee sequel. Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also return as Thor and Valkyrie, respectively. The film is scheduled to be released on November 5, 2021.
