According to Variety, IFC Films has successfully acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to Carlo Mirabella-Davis’ Swallow. Starring Haley Bennett (The Equalizer, The Girl on the Train) and Austin Stowell (Bridge of Spies), the film had its world premiere back in April at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival where Bennett won the Best Actress Award at the festival.
“‘Swallow’ is one of the most provocative and timely films we have seen yet this year with a star turning performance from Haley Bennett,” IFC Films’ executive VP of acquisitions and productions Arianna Bocco said. “We’re thrilled to introduce Carlo Mirabella-Davis to U.S. audiences with this stunning first-time feature debut.”

Written by Mirabella-Davis, Swallow is a feminist horror film which follows the story of a pregnant woman named Hunter, who compulsively begins to eat dangerous objects. As her husband and his family tighten exert more control over her life, she is forced to confront the dark secret behind her uncontrollable obsession.
The film stars Haley Bennett as Hunter, Austin Stowell as Richie, Elizabeth Marvel (The District, Homeland) as Katherine, David Rasche (Kill Your Darlings) as Michael, Lauren Velez (Dexter) as Lucy, Zabryna Guevara as Alice (Gotham) and Two-time Emmy nominee David O’Hare (American Horror Story) as Erwin.

Mollye Asher, Mynette Louie, Charades’ Carole Baraton and Logical Pictures’ Frederic Fiore are the film’s producers. Bennett also serves as an executive producer along with Joe Wright, Constantin Briest, Yohann Comte, Pierre Mazars, Eric Tavitian, and Sam Bisbee.
IFC Films is planning to release Swallow in theaters on 2020.
