According to Deadline, Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon have teamed up for Lawrence Michael Levine’s Black Bear, a film described as a “suspenseful meta-drama.”
The film follows an expecting couple (Gadon and Abbott) who must deal with an unwanted guest — a filmmaker (played by Aubrey Plaza) suffering from writer’s block who finds herself embroiled in a twisted love triangle.

Currently filming in the Adirondack Mountains in Long Lake, NY, the film will be financed by Productivity Media and Oakhurst Entertainment. Marina Grasic and Jai Khanna are producing with Julie Christeas and Jonathan Blitstein of Tandem Pictures, Richard J Bosner of Blue Creek Pictures, and Sophia Takal.
“Black Bear is a thriller that depicts broken characters wrestling with a seemingly shattered world that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats” said Levine. “I am thrilled to have such a talented trio of actors on board.”
This is the fourth feature for the director who previously helmed Wild Canaries, Gabi on the Roof in July, and Always Shine.
