According to Deadline, Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter is set to produce and star in an adaptation of the young adult novel The Distance From Me to You following Cartel Entertainment’s acquisition of the Marina Gessner novel.

Per the report, the book which is described as Wild-meets-Endless Love starts out as a romance story but quickly becomes a thriller when two teens meet and fall in love while hiking the treacherous Appalachian Trail.
Carpenter has enjoyed much success on Disney’s Girl Meets World but has also landed gigs on the big screen, namely George Tillman Jr’s The Hate U Give and the upcoming Short History of the Long Road.
Danielle Fishel, who stars in and produces Girl Meets World, will executive produce the film along with Cartel’s Stan Spry, Jeff Holland and Drew Brown.

“Danielle and I have been in love with this book for a while and we’ve found the perfect star and partner to tell this story in Sabrina,” Spry told Deadline. “She’s wildly talented and we’re so excited take this journey with her bringing this epic story to the big screen.”
