Joel Kinnaman set to return as Rick Flag in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad
Joel Kinnaman has let the world know that he will indeed return as Rick Flag for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The actor revealed the news via his Instagram account (via JoBlo), where he snapped a picture at a gun range where he will begin “easing into that squad preppppp …” Check out the full message below!

Though a handful of cast members are returning for the sequel, due out in August 2021, The Suicide Squad will be a sort of soft reboot for the franchise. Both Jai Courtney and Viola Davis will return as Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller, respectively. Margot Robbie is also rumored to reprise her role as Harley Quinn, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Idris Elba will portray a new character in the leading role, and David Dastmalchian is playing Polka-Dot Man while Daniela Melchior will portray Ratcatcher. WWE Superstar John Cena is also rumored to have a role in the film.

Since the original Suicide Squad, Kinnaman has starred in a number of high-profile projects, including Netflix’s House of Cards, the TV shows Altered Carbon and Hanna. He currently has the films The Informer, The Sound of Philadelphia, The Secrets We Keep, For All Mankind and HorseBoy in the pipeline.
The Suicide Squad will hit theaters on August 6, 2021.
