Fans have been anxiously waiting for new information on Ghostbusters 3, the upcoming installment of the classic paranormal comedy franchise, but original star Sigourney Weaver may have just revealed the best news of all that Bill Murray (Zombieland), Dan Aykroyd (Get On Up) and herself are all returning for the project!

In an interview with Parade Magazine, Weaver, who played the original long-term hauntee Dana Barrett in the first two films, confirmed that she will be reprising the role, but could not reveal any other details at this time.
“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” Weaver stated, confirming that she will be reprising her original role of Dana Barrett, as opposed to Kate McKinnon’s character’s mentor Rebecca Gorin from the 2016 reboot.
The confirmed cast for the currently-untitled new movie includes Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, IT), Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home, Captain Marvel) and Carrie Coon (Fargo, Avengers: Infinity War, Gone Girl).
Jason Reitman will direct the upcoming threequel, taking up the mantle from his father Ivan Reitman who directed the original Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters 2 (1989). Jason also had a memorable cameo in the second film. Reitman will be co-writing the script with Gil Kenan (Monster House, Poltergeist), who is no stranger to ghost stories.
It is currently unknown in what capacity the surviving core cast (Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, Rick Moranis) will return, but the fact that fans will get to see Weaver, Murray and Aykroyd again in their classic roles should propel excitement through the roof for the upcoming project. The main roles Reitman is casting are four teen actors (two boys and two girls) in lead roles to tackle supernatural baddies.
