Vin Diesel Hints That John Cena Has Joined Fast and Furious 9 Cast

Vin Diesel has become known for breaking important news on Instagram. First, there was the (possible, likely) reveal that he’ll be starring in the upcoming Avatar sequels, and now Diesel has returned to the social media platform to offer some news about Fast and Furious 9, namely that it’ll co-star John Cena (Bumblebee, Blockers).

The video begins as a thank you to Pablo, the nickname of the late Paul Walker, who starred in the franchise until he died of an auto accident in 2013. In the spirit of Pablo, Diesel introduces Cena as “another soldier for the fight for truth,” and someone who “speaks to what Pablo would have brought.” You can check out the full video below.

Fast and Furious 9 was originally set to hit theaters on April 19, but was pushed back a year to make room for the first spin-off in the series, Hobbs & Shaw, which is now scheduled to hit theaters on August 2. As a result, Fast and Furious 9 will be getting a May 22, 2020 release with Justin Lin set to return to directing in the franchise, having directed four prior installments including the third through sixth installments.
