Director Andy Muschietti was on hand at this year’s CinemaCon event in Las Vegas to share some footage from the highly anticipated IT: Chapter Two. The sequel to 2017’s IT will follow the grown-up Losers Club as they return to Derry and confront the evil Pennywise.
The footage screened, per Birth.Movies.Death, began with a grown-up Beverly (Jessica Chastain) exploring her childhood home after learning her father had died. A kindly old woman who lives in her childhood home begins sympathetically enough before her movements and pauses in conversation slowly become more offputting. Before long, she’s fully nude. This cut to a sizzle reel that was closer to the teaser trailer: the grown-up Losers Club strolling the streets of Derry, and Pennywise floating above crowds, holding balloons, and generally being a menace.

The second part of IT is written by Gary Dauberman, directed once again by Andy Muschietti, and will hit theaters on September 6, 2019. Bill Skarsgård is also set to return as the clown Pennywise for the sequel. Newcomers to the cast include James McAvoy and Bill Hader.
IT debuted in September of last year to the tune of $123.1 million on opening weekend, the highest opening weekend ever for a September release, for a fall release, and for a horror movie. It clocked in just $9 million behind Deadpool for the second-highest opening for an R-rated movie. The film earned over $700 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing horror movie of all time.
IT: Chapter Two creeps into theaters on September 6.
