According to Deadline, Golden Globe-nominated actress Alison Brie (GLOW) and Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast) have been tapped to star in Dave Franco‘s directorial debut titled The Rental. This marks the fourth collaboration between married couple Brie and Franco, whom have both worked together in The Lego Movie, The Little Hours and The Disaster Artist. In addition, Sheila and Jeremy Allen White have also been cast for the film.
Co-written by Franco and Joe Swanberg, The Rental is described as a character-driven horror thriller about two couples who rent a vacation home for what should be a celebratory weekend get-away. Black Bear Pictures will be fully financing the film and will also serve as a producer along with Franco’s Ramona Films.
“Couldn’t be more excited about partnering with Black Bear and to be working with such an amazing group of actors for my directorial debut.” Franco said during his interview with the outlet.

Vince Jolivette, Elizabeth Haggard and Dave Franco will be producing through their Ramona Films banner. Black Bear’s Ben Stillman and Teddy Schwarzman. Joe Swanberg and Chris Storer are also producing. Michael Heimler of Michael Heimler and Sean Durkin are the film’s executive producers.
Franco gained recognition for his roles in comedy movies such as: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s 21 Jump Street; the Neighbors and its sequel Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising both co-starring Seth Rogen Rose Byrne and Zac Efron; and the Disaster Artist starring alongside his brother James Franco. His other notable film credits include: the heist thriller Now You See Me; the 2016 techno-thriller Nerve opposite Emma Roberts; and Academy Award-nominated drama film If Beale Street Could Talk. He will next be seen in Michael Bay’s upcoming action film Six Underground co-starring Ryan Reynolds.

Brie is best known for her roles in TV series such as: the comedy series The Community as Annie Edison; the period drama Mad Men as Trudy Campbell opposite Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss; and in Netflix’s GLOW as Ruth Wilder which had earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. Her notable films credits include: The Five-Year Engagement, Sleeping with Other People, Get Hard, and How to Be Single.
Dan Stevens is known for his role as The Beast in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast opposite Emma Watson. He recently starred in Netflix’s period horror film Apostle and will next be seen in the drama film Her Smell starring alongside Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale)
