Deadline is reporting that Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) will star in director Kyle Newman’s comedy Barely Lethal, which was written by John D’Arco.
Steinfeld will play a 16-year-old international assassin yearning for a “normal” adolescence who fakes her own death and enrolls as a senior in a suburban high school. She quickly learns that being popular can be more painful than getting water-boarded.
Brett Ratner, RKO and Hopscotch Features are producing.
Steinfeld’s upcoming credits include Can a Song Save Your Life?, Romeo and Juliet, Ender’s Game, The Homesman and Three Days to Kill.
