That headline might lead you to believe this is in fact an article from The Onion, but we assure you it isn’t. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that “Transformers 4 Chinese Actor Talent Search” is a new talent competition show that will be hitting Chinese airwaves in June (we suggest they work on that title). The end result for the series will see four Chinese actors being given leading roles in the upcoming Transformers 4.
The jury for the show will consist of Sid Ganis, the former head of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and the current chairman of Jiaflix; Transformers 4 producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura and casting director Denise Chamian; and Paramounts marketing and distribution chief Megan Colligan.
Transformers 4 was announced as a co-production with China a few weeks ago. This competition series should prove successful there as reality TV is reportedly one of the most popular forms of entertainment in the country.
Transformers 4 will star Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, and Stanley Tucci and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
