Weta Digital’s Joe Letteri recently spoke to Bleeding Cool about director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. The visual effects supervisor didn’t want to talk about the effects, however, and instead addressed the film’s story. Here’s what he said:
“I cant talk too much about Man of Steel yet, and I havent seen the whole thing yet, but overall its the story thats most exciting. Its a nice re-envisioning of the story of Superman leaving his homeworld and coming to this new one.
If you look at what Zack [Snyder] has done youll see that theyve abandoned a lot of the pretense that was in the comics and asked Can we still make this work?
Theyre sticking to realism as much as possible. Fantastic elements are still there but a lot of it that been trimmed back to make it feel as though this actually happened.”
Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff, Man of Steel flies into 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 14.
